Lights, camera, destruction! Growing up on sets in Hollywood isn’t an easy business. So many child stars just can’t handle all of the pressure and eventually succumb instead to alternative methods to de-stress. It’s only when either their own parents and friends or the law step in that these celebrities finally receive the help they really need via rehabilitation centers.

Forget Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Bynes, Corey Feldman, Drew Barrymore, and Haley Joel Osment whose stints in rehabilitation have all relentlessly been covered.

Here are 15 child stars who found themselves in rehab centers, some more than just once. Most of these celebrities are sure to come as a shock, despite their carefully built up careers when they were still underage, when they turned 18, many of our favorite stars began spiraling out of control, with some even beginning this journey even before turning 18.

And yes, Daniel Radcliffe is indeed included in this list, as is new mommy Kristen Dunst, who recently has given birth to her first baby.

It’s easy to assume that every single one of these child stars have had life made for them. All they needed to do was stay on their path that was set for them and continue to rake in millions of dollars. It’s true, they could’ve. But as so many of them have tried to explain to us over the years, it’s just not that easy. Many of them have had troubled parents, which only top off everything and have only found one way to really let loose. For others, rehab only became a place for them to better themselves mentally.

Wizard Of Hiding – Selena Gomez

What exactly did Selena Gomez go to rehab for? The fact that’s she’s actually been there more than once throughout her young life already is really saying something in itself, but it’s the fact that the entire thing has been completely hush-hush. Her PR rep said that she there for addiction problems back in 2014, but the moment Gomez got out of rehab, she promptly went into town weeding out bad seeds in her life. As GQ best summed it up, stating she, “promptly parted ways with her manager (her mother), her record label (Disney subsidiary Hollywood Records), and her landlord (also her mother). At some point during the year, she also dropped her boyfriend, Justin Bieber.”

That’s definitely one way to clean house! But this also was not her first time going into rehab. In 2016 she went in and again went back towards the end of 2017. She previously told Vogue, “My self-esteem was shot. I was depressed, anxious. I started to have panic attacks right before getting onstage, or right after . . . Basically I felt I wasn’t good enough, wasn’t capable.”

She also added saying, “I wish more people would talk about therapy. We girls, we’re taught to be almost too resilient, to be strong and sexy and cool and laid-back, the girl who’s down. We also need to feel allowed to fall apart.”

Balancing having to deal with chemo for lupus and trying to have a high-profile singing career obviously is not going to be easy. But the that she’s been to rehab this many times is enough to really make anyone wonder if there’s just not more to this story, as her initial PR rep divulged.
