Celebrities are out in the world loving tattoos just as much as we do. But just because they’re famous and rich does not mean they’re also immune to making bad decisions when it comes to tattoos. We’ve seen our fair share of tattoos throughout Hollywood, and usually most of them have a pretty good story behind them. When it comes to our favorite celebrity, we sometimes even find inspiration from their tattoos while there are other times where we cringe and just wonder what they were thinking.

Some celebrities get their tattoos because they have deep and personal meanings, where as other celebrities get them because they were partying too hard and made a mistake. When it comes to making mistakes, celebrities are certainly no exception, and that includes getting a bad tattoo. We have tattoos from Kesha, Kendall Jenner, and Steve-O. With Steve-O we aren’t really surprised that he’s got a bad tattoo, his entire life consists of bad ideas. But they sure did make him famous, and that’s all that really matters to him.

Whether you love them or hate them, tattoos are always permanent and it’s always very important that you’re careful when it comes to choosing a tattoo that you will still have on your body when you are old and gray. Celebrities have also made the dreaded mistake of getting tattoos that are made to represent their love only to get them covered up later on. When will people learn?

Here are 20 questionable celebrity tattoos we would never copy.

1. Johnny Depp’s Impulsive Tattoo

There was a time when Winona Ryder and Johnny Depp were considered soul mates or at least they thought so at one time. Winona even defended Depp when the scandal came out between him and Winona. Stating, “I can only speak from my own experience, which was wildly different than what is being said,” Ryder told Time. “He was never, never that way toward me. Never abusive at all toward me. I only know him as a really good, loving, caring guy who is very, very protective of the people that he loves.”

Depp’s love for Ryder was so strong that he ended up getting her name tattooed right on his body. The tattoo used to read “Winona Forever,” which we now know just is not the case. This is never a good idea, because there are no guarantees in life and when breakups do happen, you’re stuck with your ex’s name on your body for your next girlfriend to stare at. Depp decided to fix it so it said, “Wino Forever,” which certainly isn’t any better from just keeping her name there. It’s a small enough tattoo on his arm that he really could’ve just covered it up completely with whatever else he wanted, so we aren’t really sure why the only thing he did was have the words changed.
